Grounds Fee: Horses entered in roping, speed events and cutting that wish to haul in and out for the day have the option of paying a grounds fee of $50 per horse instead of stalls if desired. The grounds fee cannot be applied towards the purchase of a stall once the grounds fee is paid. If an individual wishes to purchase a stall after paying the grounds fee, payment of the entire stall fee is required.
Day Stalls: $50 per day (per horse/24 hour period) - location to be determined |
| Tack stalls: Applicable stall fee for area in which your horse is stabled. Minimum of two horses for every tack stall ordered. No more than a total of 5 tack stalls may be reserved. |
| * Stalls available until noon on the last date listed. |
First come, first reserved
Stalls are to be reserved at the same time you enter your horse. Stall reservations officially begin May 1. However, reservations that are received prior to that date will be accepted and given the "postmark" date of May 1st. It doesn't matter whether the reservation is made by mail, fax, or in person--all types will be treated equally. Likewise, the time of day the reservation is received makes no difference.
Payment by check, credit card or cash is required at the time of reservation. Reservations received without payment do not receive a postmark date and are returned unprocessed. Payment is deposited upon receipt, but does not guarantee assignment to a requested stall area.
Stalls are assigned through a lottery, based on postmark date and priority. The system gives top priority to returning exhibitors whose reservations are postmarked May 1st and who wish to have the same stalls as the previous year. However, if more stalls are needed, it may be necessary for that exhibitor to move to a different area or have two separate stalling areas. Next, stalls are assigned to returning exhibitors whose reservations are postmarked May 1st but wish to be moved to a different stalling area. Then, stalls are assigned to newcomers whose reservations are postmarked May 1st. The lottery system continues assigning stalls by the date the reservation was received, through the duration of the show. In terms of priority, it makes no difference whether you come for just the Youth Show, or the Open/Amateur Show, or stay for the entire event.
If you wish to be stalled with your trainer or another exhibitor, those reservations must come in together, and, if more than one form is used, must indicate one common name for the reservation to be listed under. If more than 16 stalls are requested together, the reservation may be split between two separate barns.
A confirmation statement, which indicates the building where the stalls are located, is mailed in mid-May. Stall numbers are given by the stalling office staff upon your arrival at the show grounds.
Please note that the dates for Open and Amateur speed and roping events are during the Youth Show dates, thus stalls should be reserved accordingly.
Early Move-In
For added convenience, exhibitors may move in early, beginning Thursday, June 19, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The early move-in fee is $100. During the early move-in period, exhibitors may put up stall curtains, pre-bed their stalls and move in tack and supplies. No horses may move in on this day.
Whether you plan to haul in and out in a day, or plan to stay for the entire show, every horse entered in the World Show must have a stall. Recent improvements to the stall reservation system makes getting your stalls easier--and gets you back to the barn faster to prepare for the big event.
Tack, bedding and other stall rules
Exhibitors may reserve one tack stall for every two horses. No more than five tack stalls may be reserved. Stalls may only be used to house horses and tack. Any other commercial uses are strictly prohibited.
Bedding is not included in the stall fee and must be purchased from the Will Rogers Memorial Center. In 2007, the cost for shavings was $6.50 per small bag and $10 for a large bag. Once stall assignments have been made, you can request that your Richardson-Bass or Burnett-Tandy stalls are pre-bedded prior to your arrival by contacting the APHA before Friday, June 13.
While fans are allowed, for safety reasons, air conditioners are prohibited in the stalling area.
Making changes
Changes to stall reservations are possible, if you are flexible. If you reserve stalls for one show, and later decide to come early or stay late, it may be necessary to move to another area to accommodate your request. If you change trainers, we will make every attempt to put you in the same barn.
