UNOFFICIAL 2008 World Show Results

*The following are preliminary, unofficial results from APHA.

APHA honors top Novice Amateur, Amateur and Open competitors at 2008 World Show

FORT WORTH, TEXAS-During a special awards ceremony on July 5, 2008, the American Paint Horse Association recognized some of its top
Novice Amateur, Amateur and Open competitors from the 2008 World
Championship Paint Horse Show. The association's premier event, World Show draws competitors from across the country, and even
internationally.

Thirteen titles were awarded during the Open and Amateur portion of
the show.

The 2008 Reserve All-Around Novice Amateur award was presented to Lisa Hamrick of Wilton, California. She rode Zippin Baby to a Reserve World Championship in Novice Western Pleasure, as well as a Top 5 placing in Novice Showmanship and two additional Top 10s. Whitney Peterson took home the All-Around Novice Amateur riding
Undeefleeted. The pair finished in the Top 10 of five Novice Amateur
classes, topping with a Reserve World Championship in Novice Amateur Trail. Whitney and her 9-year-old gelding call Snohomish, Washington, home. Susan Wilson of Ramona, California, earned the Masters All-Around
Amateur
award. She rode her gelding, Real Groovy, to decisively claim
the title, in part to World Championships in Masters Amateur Senior
Hunter Under Saddle and Masters Amateur Horsemanship, along with a Reserve World title in Masters Amateur Showmanship. APHA presented a trophy buckle, courtesy of APHA sponsor Gist Silversmiths; and a monogrammed traveling chair, courtesy of the Paint Horse Journal.

The Reserve All-Around Amateur at the 2008 World Championship Paint Horse Show was Casey Hicks of Williamsville, Missouri. Casey
accumulated 114 points in cattle events this week aboard Senoras
Delly. Among their highest accomplishments at the 2008 World Show,
this pair earned World Championships in Amateur Goat Tying, Amateur
Heeling and Amateur Steer Stopping, as well as a Reserve title in
Amateur Tie-Down Roping. Awards presented for the title included a
Western trophy saddle, courtesy of APHA sponsor Blue Ribbon Custom
Tack; and a pair of boots, courtesy of APHA sponsor Lucchese.

Alisa Bernhard and Fleetstreet Max captured the 2008 All-Around
Amateur
, and Classic Amateur awards, earning the highest point total
in a minimum of three categories at the World Show in Amateur
competition, and in the Classic Amateur division. Not only did they
accumulate five World Championship titles and earn these high-point
awards this evening, but this homegrown horse from Germantown,
Wisconsin also shattered the number of World Championship titles won by a single horse—he’s now won 21 APHA World Championships—most of them while being ridden by Alisa. PJS Gentle Heart, owned by Randal and Melody Williams of Sulphur,
Oklahoma, earned both the Western High-Point Performance Horse award and the Oscar Crigler Cattle Award. Jody Ramer rode the 4-year-old mare in Open competition, earning a World Championship in Junior Heeling, a Reserve World title in Junior Tie-Down Roping, and also finished in the Top 5 in Junior Heading and in Junior Steer Stopping. The Barnmaster High-Point Exhibitor award is presented to the
exhibitor who earns the most points in a minimum of two categories at
the World Show. These categories include halter and at least one of
six other performance categories. Jason Martin, earned the title for
the second consecutive year. He rode five outstanding horses to
success in the course of accomplishing the High-Point Exhibitor
status: Real Groovy, owned by Susan Wilson of Ramona, California;
Reddys Review, owned by Shawnee Wayman of Salt Lake City, Nevada;
Zippos Redemption, owned by Renee Jobe and Chelsea Bain of
Scottsdale, Arizona; The Big Sensation, owned by Tammy Dyer of Pilot
Point, Texas; Nighttime Sensation, owned by Susan Prince of Las
Vegas, Nevada; and Mystical Machine, owned by Susan & Taylor Prince
of Las Vegas, Nevada. On behalf of APHA and APHA sponsor Barnmaster, Jason was presented a beautiful custom headstall.

Real Groovy, owned by Susan Wilson, earned three of our high-point
awards this year—Reserve All-Around Open Horse, High-Point English
Horse
and Super Gelding. Ten-year-old Real Groovy was shown to
Reserve World Championships in Senior Hunter Hack and Utility
Pleasure Driving, and a third place in Senior Pleasure Driving by our
High-Point Exhibitor Jason Martin, and finished in the top five of
Senior Hunter Under Saddle under the guidance of Beth Case. APHA
presented Wilson a host of prizes for the three awards: a Western
trophy saddle, courtesy of APHA sponsor Blue Ribbon Custom Tack; an
English saddle, courtesy of APHA sponsor Charlotte’s Saddlery; an
English saddle pad, courtesy of APHA sponsor Charlotte’s Saddlery;

The All-Around Open Horse title is the pinnacle of success for horses
in open competition here at the World Championship Paint Horse Show, and in the Paint Horse industry. The Big Sensation made his own big sensation at the 2008 World Show with consistent performances throughout the week under the guidance of Beth Case, Tracy Baer, Jason Martin and Charlie Cole. The 5-year-old stallion is owned by Tammy Dyer of Pilot Point, Texas. He earned Top 5 placings in Junior Hunter Under Saddle, Junior Hunter Hack and Junior Western Riding, as well as Reserve World Championships in Junior Pleasure Driving and Junior Working Hunter. Awards presented to Dyer from APHA were a 3-horse aluminum trailer, courtesy of APHA sponsor Hart Trailers; $1,000 cash, courtesy of APHA; and a pair of boots, courtesy of APHA sponsor Lucchese.
