UNOFFICIAL 2007 World Show Results

*The following are preliminary, unofficial results from APHA.

APHA recognizes top Youth World Show competitors
FORT WORTH, TEXAS—The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) named its top Youth World Champions June 28, 2007, at the John Justin Arena of the Will Rogers Complex in Fort Worth, Texas. The World Show is APHA's showcase event, during which Youth from across the country gather for a week of world-class competition dedicated specifically to them. After the conclusion of qualifying events, high-point and All-Around titles were presented to outstanding competitors.

Nine titles were awarded, including:

The 2007 High-Point Western Youth is Stevie Rubion of Paradise, Texas. This outstanding young roper accumulated 114 points in four events riding her rodeo horse, Little Joe Black. Stevie and Joe captured World Champion titles in breakaway roping, Youth heading and Youth heeling, in addition to a Reserve World title in Youth goat tying. Little Joe Black is an 8-year-old gelding owned by Steve and Sondra Rubion, and was also named Horse of the Year in the North Texas High School Rodeo Association earlier this month. APHA presented Stevie with a western trophy saddle, courtesy of APHA sponsor Blue Ribbon Custom Tack, a saddle pad, courtesy of APHA sponsor Pro Orthopedics, a pair of boots, courtesy of APHA sponsor Lucchese, and an arena bag, courtesy of APHA sponsor Big D.

This year’s High Point English Youth winner is Mary Ellen Stanley of Fort Worth, Texas. In her last year of youth competition, Mary Ellen rode Sacredhopesndreams to World Championships in Youth jumping and working hunter 14-18, a Reserve World title in hunt seat equitation over fences, and an additional Top 10 placing on her way to capturing the High-Point English Youth title. Sacredhopesndreams, or “Calvin,” is an 11-year-old gelding. APHA presented Mary Ellen a Pessoa English saddle, courtesy of APHA sponsor Charlotte’s Saddlery, an English saddle pad, courtesy of Charlotte’s Saddlery, a PRO saddle pad, courtesy of Pro Orthopedics, and an arena bag, courtesy of Big D.

Mary Ellen Stanley and Sacredhopesndreams were also the recipients of the Elegant April Award, which is presented annually in memory of the World Champion sorrel overo mare, Elegant April. Jennifer and Margie Chan of Elegant Paint Horses in Wilton, California, presented her a $200 Savings Bond and a beautiful memorial trophy in recognition of winning the working hunter 14-18 class.

The 2007 Reserve High Point Walk-Trot Youth is Ashley Arenz of Portland, Oregon. This promising young competitor earned Reserve World titles in walk-trot showmanship and trail, along with two other Top Five finishes. Riding Barlinks Mr Robin, Ashley earned 66 points at the 2007 World Show. Barlinks Mr Robin is a 13-year-old gelding owned by Kelly Arenz. The 2007 High Point Walk-Trot Youth is 10-year-old Samantha Pavletich of Bakersfield, California. This up-and-coming young rider earned 75 points riding Caddys Dream Machine. Their accomplishments include a World championship in walk-trot equitation and solid third-place finishes in the other three walk-trot events. This is Samantha’s second trip to the World Show, and her best overall finish. Caddy is a 9-year-old gelding owned by Samantha and Mark Pavletich. The Reserve All-Around Youth 13 & Under title was earned by 12-year-old Rylee Morgan of American Fork, Utah, and her 13-year-old gelding, Dun Me Light. The pair earned 83 points at the 2007 World Show, which incorporated Top 10 placings in seven classes, plus a Reserve World championship in Western riding. APHA presented Rylee a straw hat, courtesy of Bailey Hats, a saddle pad, courtesy of Pro Orthopedics, a pair of boots, courtesy of Lucchese, and an arena bag, courtesy of Big D.

The 2007 All-Around Youth 13 & Under Youth is Ashley Wildes of Lakeside, California. Ashley rode Slightly Fancy to a cumulative total of 141 points earned in 7 classes. Slightly Fancy is a 7-year-old gelding owned by Tim & Karen Wildes. During the course of the week, Ashley and Slightly Fancy won World Championships in hunt seat equitation, hunter hack and Western riding, a Reserve World title in horsemanship, and top-five placings in showmanship and working hunter. Your 2007 14-18 All-Around Reserve award goes to Ciera Ramsour and Lenahandlebar from Canon City, Colorado. This standout young rider and the talented 8-year-old mare owned by J.G. Jack Kent of Boone, Colorado, accumulated 77 points in 3 classes during the course of this week’s Youth competition, with a World Championship in the Youth stakes race and reserve World titles in both Youth heading and heeling. APHA presented Ciera a straw hat, courtesy of Bailey Hats, a saddle pad, courtesy of Pro Orthopedics, a pair of boots, courtesy of Lucchese, and an arena bag, courtesy of Big D.

The 2007 14-18 All-Around award was earned by Kain Emmons of Plymouth, California, and his 7-year-old gelding, Gameplan. The duo earned 98 points this week, with a World Championship in Steer stopping, a Reserve World championship in breakaway roping, and Top 10 finishes in 4 additional classes. Kain was the 2006 Reserve 14-18 Hi-Point award winner, as well, and set out to put a strong finish on his APHA Youth competitive career.
