UNOFFICIAL 2005 World Show Results

*The following are preliminary, unofficial results from APHA.

Talented youngsters earn top 2005 APHA World Show awards

FORT WORTH, Texas—The American Paint Horse Association named its top Youth World Champions June 30, 2005, at the John Justin Arena of the Will Rogers Complex in Fort Worth, Texas, after the conclusion of
qualifying events. Several high-point winners and reserve winners were
named, as well as All-Around titles. New to this year’s ceremony was
the Rookie of the World title, which was awarded in two age divisions.

      Eight titles were awarded, including:

  • High-Point English, won by 16-year-old Jessica Hagen of
    Bakersfield, Calif., and her 6-year-old sorrel overo mare Brightly
    Jazzed.  For the win, Hagen was awarded an English saddle, English bridle, and saddle pad, courtesy of Charlotte’s Saddlery, and a saddle pad, courtesy of PRO Orthopedics.
  •  Reserve All-Around 13 & Under, taken by Katelyn Gray of Elbert, Colo., and her 12-year-old sorrel overo gelding, JB Quick. Gray was awarded Western boots, courtesy of Boulet, and a saddle pad, courtesy of PRO Orthopedics.
  •  All-Around 13 & Under, High-Point Western, and Rookie 13 & Under were all won by Ali Papendick of Rapid City, S.D., and her 14-year-old sorrel overo gelding Rust On My Zipper. For their achievements, the team took home many awards. For the All-Around 13 & Under title, they were given a Western saddle, courtesy of Top Hand Tack; a 16-by-20-inch photograph, courtesy of K.C. Montgomery; and a saddle pad, courtesy of
    PRO Orthopedics. Ali received another Western saddle, courtesy of Top Hand Tack; Western boots, courtesy of Boulet and a saddle pad, courtesy of PRO Orthopedics for the High-Point Western title. For the first Rookie of the World 13 & Under title, the duo received $1,000 from Horse Illustrated and Young Rider magazines, and a trophy belt buckle from Gist.
  • Rookie 14-18, awarded to Casey Hicks of Williamsville, Mo.,
    riding Senoras Delly, a 6-year-old sorrel tobiano mare owned by the competitor’s parents, Ken and Joy Hicks. This award was sponsored by Young Rider and Horse Illustrated magazines, which gave Hicks $1,000 cash, and Gist, which awarded him a custom-made trophy belt buckle.
  •  Reserve All Around 14-18, was given to Chelsea Bain of Phoenix, Ariz., and her 7-year-old bay overo gelding Zippos Redemption. The teen received Western boots, courtesy of Boulet and a saddle pad, courtesy of PRO Orthopedics.
  •  All Around 14-18, won by 17-year-old Amanda Ryan of Poway,
    Calif., and her 7-year-old bay overo gelding, Leos Decked Out Tux, owned by her mother, Mindy Ryan. Amanda was awarded a Western saddle, courtesy of Top Hand Tack; a 16-by-20-inch photograph, courtesy of K.C. Montgomery; and a saddle pad, courtesy of PRO Orthopedics.

 An annual non-qualifying event for registered American Paint
Horses, the World Show includes 175 classes, five challenge series
classes, three sweepstakes events, a select sale, a trade show and many other special activities. Exhibitors demonstrate their skills in
halter, Western, English, cattle, driving and speed classes.
