UNOFFICIAL 2001 World Show
High-Point Winners

Christina McGurran of Los Gatos, California, was the Reserve All-Around Youth 13 & Under. Exhibiting Just Passing Thru, a 9-year-old bay overo gelding, Christina earned a World Championship in Hunter Hack, a Reserve Championship in Horsemanship, a third in Reining and Western Pleasure, a sixth in Working Hunter, and a ninth in Showmanship. Just Passing Thru was sired by Pass Perfect and out of Awhe Ha. She won a saddle blanket, courtesy of Sergeant's Western World and a Pan-Am blanket, courtesy BMB.

Leanne Forestiere of Pine Bluff, Arkansas was the All-Around Youth 13 & Under, exhibiting her 10-year-old sorrel overo gelding, Dynamic Discovery. They earned 99 points and three World Championships in Showmanship, Horsemanship and Hunt Seat Equitation. The team also placed fifth in Hunter Under Saddle. Dynamic Discovery was sired by Dynamic Deluxe AQHA and out of Quincy Tinkerbell AQHA. The High-Point Western Youth was Allison Carroll of Norco, California. Riding Shine My Zipper, the All-Around Horse winner in 1998 and 1999, Allison racked up 78 points with the 10-year-old sorrel overo gelding winning World Championships in Western Pleasure and Western Riding, a third in Reining, and a fourth in Horsemanship. Shine My Zipper was sired by Zippo Jack Par AQHA and out of Rancholm Delight. Allison was awarded a Western saddle and blanket courtesy of Sergeant's Western World and a bridle bag courtesy of BMB.

The High-Point English Youth and Reserve All-Around Youth 14-18 was Kelly Emich, of Littleton, Colorado. Riding Sacred Seven, a 10-year-old brown tobiano gelding, Kelly earned 81 English points, with World Championships in Working Hunter and Jumping, a third place in Hunt Seat Equitation, and a fifth in Hunter Hack. She earned an additional 28 points with a fifth place in Reining, fifth in Showmanship and sixth in Western Riding. Sacred Seven was sired by Sacred Indian and out of Charge It Darling AQHA. Sara Beth Simons of Aubrey, Texas, was the All-Around Youth 14-18, exhibiting Sonnys Cayannecraz, 1995 sorrel overo gelding. Together they were the World Champions in Horsemanship, Reserve Champions in Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure and Trail. The also placed third in Showmanship. Sonnys Cayannecraz was sired by Sonny Par Bar AQHA and out of Crazy Lady. The Reserve All-Around Novice Amateur was Beth Bass of Bryan, Texas. Riding Skips A Paint Too, a 6-year-old gray overo gelding by Ebony Flirt AQHA and out of My Maygun Four AQHA, Beth won third place in Novice Showmanship, sixth place in Novice Hunter Under Saddle, topped off with a World Championship in Novice Hunt Seat Equitation for a total of 50 points.

Bass received a saddle blanket and custom-designed chaps from Sergeant's Western World and a silver headstall courtesy of Woods Western.

The All-Around Novice Amateur was Joann Niffenegger of San Dimas, California. Riding El Tigre Excitesme, a 10-year-old bay overo gelding by San Jaun Excitesme and out of Miss Tiger Rose AQHA, she captured a World Championship in Novice Showmanship, a third Novice Hunt Seat Equitation, a fourth in Novice Working Hunter, a sixth in Novice Horsemanship, a sixth in Novice Hunter Hack, and a tenth in Novice Western Riding for a total of 68 points.

The Reserve All-Around Amateur was Jaime Joice Gossett of Livingston, Texas who rode Skipsdandy Classic. He is an 8-year-old sorrel overo gelding by JB Classic and out of Skips Golden Girl. Jaime and Skips Dandy Classic captured two World Championships in Amateur Heading and Amateur Steer Stopping, as well as a third place in Amateur Pole Bending, a fourth in Amateur Goat Tying and a fifth place in Amateur Working Cow Horse for a total of 104 points.

Gossett received a saddle blanket and custom-designed chaps from Sergeant's Western World and a silver headstall courtesy of Woods Western.

The All-Around Amateur was Ryan Read of Laurel, Mississippi, riding Too Sexy Formyspot, an 7-year-old sorrel overo mare by Pedo Jones AQHA and out of Thats Sues Cash AQHA. Ryan and Too Sexy Formyspot won the World Show High-Point Youth 14-18 title in 1999 and 2000. This year, the team captured four Amateur World Championships in Hunt Seat Equitation, Horsemanship, Showmanship and Trail, as well as a third place in Hunter Under Saddle and a sixth in Western Riding for a total of 126 points.

Read received $1,000 cash courtesy of the APHA; a Western saddle from Sergeant's Western World; and a three-horse aluminum trailer, courtesy Hart Trailers.

The High-Point Exhibitor was Jerry Erickson of Sanger, Texas. Jerry earned 141 points on seven different horses in One Ritzy Heathen, Tommys Charisma, All Time Fancy, Shine My Zipper, Ive Been Sent, Vintage Version and Ourcause For Aplaus. He captured World Championships in 2-year-old Hunter Under Saddle, Junior Hunter Hack, Senior Hunter Hack, as well as a third in Senior Hunter Under Saddle, a fourth in Junior and Senior Working Hunter, a fourth in Junior Hunter Under Saddle and tenth in Green Working Hunter.

The High-Point Western Performance Horse was Smokin Chic Olena, owned by Susan Mason of Fairmont, West Virginia. Shown by Craig Johnson and Robbie Schroeder of Gainseville, Texas, Smokin Chic Olena earned two World Championships in Senior Steer Stopping and Senior Working Cow Horse, a reserve World Championship in Senior Reining, a third in Senior Heeling and a fourth in Senior Calf Roping for a total of 114 points. The 7-year-old sorrel overo stallion captured the highest number of points earned by any horse in open performance classes at this year's show.

The Oscar Crigler Cattle Award winner and Reserve All-Around Horse was Strait From Texas. The 9-year-old stallion was shown by Gary Wells and owned by The Strait From Texas Partnership, based in Wagner, South Dakota. The black tobiano, by Ris Key Business and out of Gunners Pollyanna AQHA, earned a total of 92 points by capturing two World Championships in Senior Heading and Senior Heeling, two Reserve World Championships in Senior Calf Roping and Senior Steer Stopping and an eighth place in Senior Working Cow Horse.

The All-Around Horse was Reddys Review, a 9-year-old sorrel overo gelding owned by Shawnee Wayman of Salt Lake City, Utah. Not only did he win the All-Around title, but "Billy" also captured the Super Gelding and High-Point English Performance Horse Award.

Trained by Barry Beach, Charlie Cole and Jason Martin, the horse was shown by Charlie Cole, Troy Compton, Vicki Holt, Ryan Painter and Shane George. Sired by Reddy Robin and out of Spanish Stone AQHA, Billy captured World Championships in Senior Western Pleasure and Senior Working Hunter, as well as third in Senior Pleasure Driving, fourth in Utility Driving, sixth in Senior Trail, and eighth in Senior Hunter Hack for a total of 93 points.
