Introducing the Hart Non-Pro Versatility Challenge


This exciting new class sponsored by Hart Trailers will showcase the Versatility
of the American Paint Horse as they compete in 4 classes - Western Pleasure,
Hunter Under Saddle, Reining and Barrel Racing.
Entry Fees and Deadlines
Postmarked on or before September 10 - $750
Postmarked on or after September 11 until 5:00 pm the day before the class -
$1,000
Eligibility Requirements
• Open to horses registered in the Regular Registry only.
• Horses must be 2 years of age or older.
• Exhibitors must be enrolled in the APHA Amateur or Youth programs and meet ownership
requirements as per Rule AM-020 and YP-015 respectively.
• Entries are required to enter an APHA approved class in either the Summer and/or Fall
World Championship Shows.
Special Conditions
Limited to the first 25 entries. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first
served basis. Postmarks will be used to determine the order of entries. Minimum
of 5 entries is required or class may be cancelled or re-scheduled. If class is
cancelled by APHA, a full refund of the class fee will be given.
Judging
The event will be judged in one go-round. Three judges will judge each class.
There will be four classes, each of which will be judged in
accordance with applicable APHA rules for such events. Order of classes: Hunter
Under Saddle, Western Pleasure, Reining and Barrel Racing. Every entry must show
in all four classes and may only have one rider.
Tabulation
After each class is placed, the number of points earned for the purpose of
tabulating the overall winner of the Versatility Challenge will be awarded based
on the following:
1st Place . . . . . .10 Points
2nd Place . . . . . . 9 Points
3rd Place . . . . . . 8 Points
4th Place . . . . . . 7 Points
5th Place . . . . . . 6 Points
6th Place . . . . . . 5 Points
7th Place . . . . . . 4 Points
8th Place . . . . . . 3 Points
9th Place . . . . . . 2 Points
10th Place . . . . . 1 Point
The winner and the subsequent placings of the Versatility Challenge will be the
horse accumulating the most points in the four classes combined.
The Tiebreaker System
In the case of a tie, the following tiebreakers will be used.
• The entry placing the greatest number of times on all three judges cards.
• The entry winning the greater number of classes, then the greater number of
seconds.
Class Procedures
All necessary tack or appointment changes will be made in the arena. All tack
should be placed in a two wheeled vehicle. All needed equipment must be placed
in the vehicle before it enters the arena. Once the vehicle and tack enter the
arena at the first tack change, it will not be permitted to leave the arena
until completion of the last tack change. Two assistants will be permitted in
the arena to assist with the tack changes. Assistants must be properly attired
wearing long sleeved shirts and western hats. Once the assistants enter the
arena at the first tack change, they will not be permitted to leave the arena
until the completion of the last tack change. All tack changes must be completed
in the five minute interval between divisions or the entry will be eliminated.
No horse will be permitted to leave the arena after the class starts without the
permission of Show Management.
Exhibitors are cautioned to guard their tack and appointments against loss or
theft. The Show Management cannot be responsible.
This class does not count toward any High-Point awards.
Awards
5 – 10 entries
1st place – Hart Trailer.
11 – 25 entries
1st place – Hart Trailer.
2nd – 4th place - 20% of the entry fee will be jackpotted and paid back with a 60%/30%/10% split.
