Entry
Any country interested in sending a team to compete in the American Paint Horse Association Youth Paint World Games may submit an entry to the association by completing an entry form and mailing it to APHA, Attn: Youth Paint World Games, P.O. Box 961023, Fort Worth, Texas 76161-0023. There are no entry fees.
Teams may be made up of as few as two exhibitors to a
maximum of four exhibitors and one alternate. All teams
must have at least one adult advisor. All youth members
on the team must be able to compete in walk, trot and canter/lope
classes. Leadline or walk/trot riders are ineligible to
compete.
Teams with the maximum number of exhibitors must select
one rider for each of the four performance classes —
with each exhibitor competing one time. Teams with fewer
exhibitors must select riders for each class and determine
which exhibitors will compete more than one time.
Competition and Horses
The competition will consist of four performance events:
Western Horsemanship (railwork only), Showmanship, Reining
and Trail.
Horses will be provided for the teams. Teams will draw their horses during a coaches’ meeting, which will be held Tuesday, June 24 at 5 p.m. location to be announced.
The teams will be allowed to work with their horses prior to the competition. The horses’ owners
will have the option to be present at this time to provide
information about the horses and oversee the warm-up. Following
this warm-up time, no one from the team will be allowed
to work with the horse in any fashion. (This includes, but
is not limited to, grooming, bathing, tacking, longeing
or riding.) Teams found working with their horse outside
of the warm-up session will be disqualified.
The horses will be prepared for competition by their owners
and will be delivered to the teams no more than 30 minutes
and no less than 15 minutes prior to the start of the first
class. Teams will be given time to tack up their horses
and then must bring them into the arena for a brief warm-up
time prior to the first event.
Teams will work together to change tack on the horses
between classes, and they will help their team members make
any clothing changes.
Team selection
Each country may use its own discretion to determine selection
of its team members, as long as the exhibitors meet the
eligibility requirements previously explained.
The United States’ team will be selected based on
a random drawing. Youth entered in the Team Tournament performance
classes and any other youth who contacts the association
and meets the requirements will be entered in the drawing.
A computer will randomly draw four team members and one
alternate. The United States’ team members will be
contacted following their selection.
